Hatchery Overview
As part of Cell Aqua's hatch-to-dispatch model, there was a need to secure a consistant supply of quality fingerlings (baby fish). The decision was made to design and develop our own hatchery in order to control the quality and supply of these fingerlings for our joint venture partners and licensees.
As a result, Cell Aqua has developed a technically advanced hatchery on the grounds of James Cook University (JCU) in Townsville, Queensland, Australia.
Cell Aqua's Townsville hatchery has been successfully operating since 2005 and has shipped numerous batches of high quality fingerlings all over the world with minimal mortalities.
Cell Aqua currently consistently ships batches of live Australian barramundi fingerlings to it's Malaysian based production facilities on a monthly basis.
The company is in the process of evaluating and establishing large scale 'multi-species' hatchery operations in Malaysia.
